Date: 2004-08-01 10:13 pm (UTC)They've avoided it like the plague ever since, leaving WB to take up the slack. I still miss Gargoyles, and Batman Beyond, and the actual Batman:TAS besides that. I'd WATCH american toons if they wouldn't dumb it down so much! Which is why we both agree that Samurai Jack kicked ass too. Rare beasts in the US animation forests.

Though I'm not quite sure just yet what to make of the American Imitation-Anime trend (Teen Titans coming to mind at the top of the list). I mean, on one level I kind of appreciate the acknowledgment that anime is so popular and the recognition implied by imitation; but at the same time it's like have we as a country become so un-original and un-inspired that we can't come up with any ideas of our own and turn to copying others?

PS. The Scotsman dynamic is priceless. You get a stoic and a brash brawler. ^_^ Twice the fun.
