The Kakashi Car also has a Tinkerbell decal on the gas cap, so odds are it belongs to a woman. I suspect she works at that grocery store, also, because the car was in nearly the same spot yesterday as when I saw it last time I stopped there.

...especially with all the Kakashi fans I know. ^_^

Had to stop at the grocery store on the way home from work, and I attempted to park in a somewhat narrow space between a pickup and a nondescript dark blue slightly-beat-up old Mitsubishi sedan with a myriad of cracks spiderwebbing the windshield. I thought my Tahoe would fit, and it did, but I would have had to crawl out the back hatch. So, no. As I was pulling back out of the space, however, I noticed the Leaf emblem decal in the upper corner of the sedan's windshield; pulling past it to go park elsewhere, I couldn't help seeing the giant first-stage Sharingan decal on the back window.

My reaction was half 'Hey, Naruto fan!' and half 'Meh, Sasuke fan' and I made a point of walking past the front of the car on my way in to the store; turns out, not necessarily a Sasuke fan after all. There was a Leaf emblem in either corner of the windshield with a bold red 'Kakashi' emblazoned between them. And the license plate? HATAKE.

^___^

It made me grin, which I could really use these days. It's just too bad my jeep is still dry-docked in the backyard, because A) it's narrower than the Tahoe and probably would have fit beside the Kakashi car, and B) if I'm still this deep into the fandom when the jeep is running again, I plan to pursue getting it vanity-licensed as ANBU, probably with a Leaf emblem on the windshield behind the rearview mirror and an ANBU tattoo decal on the driver door. ♥

It's always nice, though, to see Proof of Other Geeks in this town. Had I seen the driver with the car, I might even have gathered the nerve to offer an appropriately-appreciative comment. ^_~ d

*flail* Agh, I dearly wish I had the language skills to tell this artist how much I love their work, even if s/he does draw the whirlpool crest on Yamato's sleeves when he doesn't actually have it. Totally forgivable when s/he's producing stuff like this. ♥ (worksafe but suggestive)

I would say the same to this artist too, while I'm at it, for stuff like this. (worksafe)

I learned fairly recently that Nightwish and Anette parted ways in October. Which is too bad, but c'est la vie and all that. Nightwish isn't hiring a replacement right away, probably won't even start looking (based on a November interview) until sometime next year. In the meantime, they've brought in Dutch singer Floor Jansen to finish out their world tour and other committed engagements. I was curious, so I went looking for videos of her old and current bands to get a feel for her voice. As it turns out, however, YouTube is already well-stocked with smartphone recordings of Nightwish shows with Floor on vocals so I got a better taste of how they mesh than I'd expected. She kind of sits right in between Tarja and Anette, stylistically; I looked up performances of songs from both former singers and she pulls them off impressively, adds a tastefully-balanced bit of her own flavor. And...well. I know she's not likely to end up as the official replacement (even though the way she was introduced in an Australian show a few days ago apparently has rumors flying that she might be), that she's got her own prior committments and projects and her own band and all. But I wouldn't mind being wrong about that; my first impression is that she's a really good fit for the Nightwish sound and style. I mean, when she sings Ghost Love Score with the band and it still gives me the same massive goosebumps despite crappy bootleg sound quality and an very enthusiastic fan right next to the video-taker shouting lyrics along in an off-key monotone? Yeah. I could definitely live with this as a permanent arrangement.

...Also. The Nightwish version of 'The Heart Asks Pleasure First'? Awesome. ♥

There's this artist named Rise on Pixiv (and on Tegaki) who, among other things, does some of the best YamaSai art I've managed to find. Their most recent posting of these two is here - fifteen pieces, some really nice (worksafe!) stuff definitely worth the looking if you're interested, but.

This* is the one I'm fangirlishly compelled to post about, because the expression on Yamato's face just...nngh. Well. May the gods have mercy on whoever made Sai look like that, because chances are they're only seconds away from being sealed up to die a slow death from the inside of a tree.

Protective Yamato: A beautiful force to be reckoned with. ♥

*Well, the link was supposed to take you directly to the pic, but if it doesn't, I'm talking about the sixth one down.

Because Joss Whedon is kind of awesome, and it made me laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TiXUF9xbTo
(This is the closest I'm getting to politics here, promise)

Because Nathan Fillion is also awesome and dresses as Captain Canada for Halloween: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/had-to-post-a-bigger-version

And Nathan Fillion inevitably leads me to Firefly, which then leads me here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFj8eFZx-TA&

Things like that are the biggest reason I keep watching Castle. But also because they do cross-marketing commercials like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vr-HgRQS_c

I don't know who gets credit for creating this pic, but I found it here, and it continues to make me smile hugely even after multiple viewings: Thor, texting )

Also, icon. Textbook definition of 'adorkable'. ♥

I don't know. There are a good handful of decent prompts for Thor/Bruce scattered sparsely throughout the reams of pages of prompts at [livejournal.com profile] avengerskink, all but one of which have never been filled. And there is one in particular that keeps nudging at my brain in a 'C'mon, you could totally write this!' way. But giving in to that impulse runs a very good risk of derailing myself completely into a new fandom, and I'm not ready to be 'done' writing Naruto yet never mind that Tenpou is making Very Insistent Overtures towards regaining my attention lately. It hasn't been my standard requisite three years of active participation. I've got too many fics I need to finish up before I let something new sidetrack me. I'm 'championing' YamaSai and I have not published nearly enough to excuse a swapping of loyalties, as it were, and I know myself well enough to seriously doubt my ability to effectively rally behind the banners of two separate Underdog pairings in different fandoms at the same time.

And yet, I still want to. *sigh*

...Not that I had an old favorite gif, or anything. *g* Even though it's actors-not-characters, it still makes me smile. ^_^

Ever wanted to see Minekura draw...

Konzen in a shiromuku and/or Tenpou in a wedding dress*?
Zakuro's ass in black leather short-shorts? ♥
Gojyo in a grass skirt and coconut bra?
The Gaiden boys working in a maid cafe?
Naughty-Nurse Kanzeon?
The (chibi) Gaiden boys dressed as the Sanzo-ikkou?

Then you need to go download the Dice of Destiny booklet here: http://www.mediafire.com/?p2v2wgghc3726gg

*It's very strange. I'm not generally a fan of men in wedding dresses - if two men are getting married, unless one of them is an established cross-dresser, there's no reason one of them has to 'wear the dress' - but this, Tenpou, it's just...unph. *_* Maybe it's his smouldery-challenging over-the-shoulder expression coupled with the jaunty cigarette and the slightly-drawn katana, but the pic is just...arresting. All that shapely back-muscle rippling under the veil doesn't really hurt anything, either. Nor do the opera-length gloves I suspect I might be developing a fetish.

Salty Dog 7

For those interested, scans of Salty Dog 7 have been shared at [profile] saiyuki_media: http://saiyuki-media.livejournal.com/235220.html

And they are gorgeous. I am reminded all over again how much I love Minekura's art, skinny chests and bony feet and gangly fingers and all. The Ikkou look good as ever, but I'm really in awe of the Gaiden art included. Tenpou is a mother-effing sexpot, holy crap. It's like I'm discovering him all over again. And Konzen gets prettier every time I see him, I swear. Especially when he's sleeping in the bathtub, hngh. *_*

Castle + Adam Baldwin: Holy crap that was so much fun! ♥ Damn, but I miss Firefly.

On a completely different note: I think I know exactly what I should write Yamato for his birthday. ♥ Plenty of time to get it done if I start now, and still time to come up with something else if I can't get this to work logistically.

The Legend of Korra is set to premiere on April 14.  I'm so excited!!  Husband discovered the first two episodes available on iTunes and downloaded (they were free!) - we should get them watched this weekend.  I have such high hopes.  ♥

Switching fandoms:

Attention Firefly fans!  If you're not watching Castle as a regular thing, you might want to make an exception to check out the April 16 episode - Adam Baldwin will be guest starring.  ^___^  That's right, Cap'n Tightpants and The Man They Call Jayne, reunited on the small screen for an evening of off-beat police-procedural hijinks.  ♥  I have high hopes on this front, too.

Also, I about died laughing this past Monday when the Castle script blatantly lifted a recurring verbal exchange straight out of The Fresh Beat Band.  *headdesk*  That alone makes all the preschool TV I'm exposed to totally worth it.  ^_^  Somebody with script-writing influence in the Castle crew obviously has kids.  But geeky-stupid little things like this are the reason I keep watching in the first place.  ♥
