Gundam Wing
1. The pairing you first fell in love with: 2x5. Duo and Fei are so much alike and yet at the same time so opposite...they complement one another pefectly. I could be somewhat biased, I suppose, given that one of the earliest episodes I saw was the moonbase sequence and that's really their strongest time together in the series (and I saw this long before I saw the first several eps, which *do* lean in the 1x2 direction). But they've always just struck me as a very natural couple. And they have such a knack for bickering like old-married folk... ^_^
2. The pairing you never expected to love as much as you do now: 3x5. Trowa and Fei have so very little time interacting in the series, they didn't strike me as a natural pair up. After long enough in the fandom, though, I started mixing a bit more freely and lo & behold, a hot new addiction was found. Sadly I fell out of the fandom before I could really start to explore the possibilities. I *will* get back to them someday. Honest, I will. Carpe Diem awaits. (waves 2x3x5 banner meekly)
3. The pairing everyone else loves that you don't: 1x2. By far the most popular pairing. But I disliked Heero immensely from the get-go; and while I've eventually come to appreciate him (particularly when paired with Q or Tro), I still just can't see him and Duo as the best match for one another. Though strangely enough I'm more open to it after having fallen out of the fandom. Especially if it's a 2x1 rather than a 1x2. Duo is (in my perception) such a natural seme, I've always puzzled over the widespread tendency to stick him on the bottom without a second thought. In any pairing.
4. The pairing you love that everyone else hates: Hmm. I do like my 1x4, which...well, it's not really hated but it's not widely practiced or understood, either. I have been known to enjoy a good fic that features 1xR; and...alright, I'll admit, the idea of a 1xDxR does hold a certain kinky appeal.
5. The pairing you used to love but don't any longer: (shakes head) Still like each pairing that I've fallen into. I may have added many new ones, but I still have a place in my heart for each of them.

1. The pairing you first fell in love with: Gojyo/Hakkai. I came into the fandom looking for it, honestly, thanks to
zalia; but something tells me it would have bowled me over anyway. It's the whole sort of yin-yang, complementary-opposites, two-halves-of-a-balanced-whole dynamic that I so love. They complete each other. They're unspeakably perfect together, and there's so much canon history and hintage on them that...dammit, I just love 'em.
2. The pairing you never expected to love as much as you do now: Nii/Kou. I'd figured myself for a KouDoku girl; and while I'd thought that yes it would be terribly fascinating to work with Nii, pairing him up with anyone would just get scary. And then I was exposed one way or another (*cough*cough*Brad*cough*Alias*cough*cough*cough*) to the possibilities of Nii and Kou, and then I started *seeing* it, and...what can I say? Their dynamic is quite different from anything I've worked with before; and that challenge and uniqueness may well be part of the appeal. I also never expected to be so enraptured by the idea of TenKenGou or Goujun with anyone, really, given his role in the Gensomaden timeline; but...heh. He captures the heart, somehow, and sparks the imagination. ^_^
3. The pairing everyone else loves that you don't: Sanzo/Gojyo romance. I'm vaguely mystified as to why this one is so freaking popular. I see far too much of one of them getting all jealous or sappy or mooning over the other, and...gheh. (shivers) Dude. I'm all for one-time or even occasionally recurring 3x5/5x3 hookups to relieve stress or frustrations or sexual tensions. But this will be *angry* sex. Hatesex, to borrow Alias' term. Deliciously rough, aggressive, competitive sex that has nothing to do with affection or tender emotions of any sort. Trying to bind these two in a romance is going to cause nothing but problems. I suppose, in all fairness, that a sufficiently talented and thoughtful author could probably manage with enough effort and care and attention to IC to paint a fic/scenario where a relationship between them *could* be believable. But I can't imagine that relationship *lasting*; and I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that fic, y'know? Because all I'm seeing so far is pre-teen sap-crap that by its very saccharine-angsty nature makes both parties dreadfully OOC and just...agh. (shivers again)
4. The pairing you love that everyone else hates: Nii/Kou. I don't know that it's hated, per se; but the fanbase for this pairing seems horribly miniscule. And so many fen have a tendency to run screaming whenever Nii is mentioned. But...dude. I'm addicted. Hopelessly. And I aim to convert the masses, onepoor unsuspecting open mind at a time...
5. The pairing you used to love but don't any longer: ...While I can't say that I don't still love it, I must admit that Kou/Doku does not hold quite the same strength of appeal that it did initially. I still think they're wonderful together, and probably quite good for each other. They bear a lot more exploring than the fandom seems to give them. And I am just as guilty for neglecting them; because somehow the idea of Kou and Nii holds an appeal far more vast. Of course, it *does* make for an interesting triangle, Kou/Doku vs. Nii/Kou...heh. Triangle, mind you. Not threesome. (shakes head vigorously)

Oro?
Interesting......
Date: 2005-02-24 05:48 pm (UTC)Yes I like the GW 2x5 pairing myself very much. And a bit of a 3x4 IF it is written right.
Saiyuki: MAJOR Gojyo/Hakkai fan no question about it, AND after reading your pieces along with some other VERY talented writers I have fallen for the whole TenKenGou threesome as well as anything else featuring these three lovely characters.
Now about that Nii/Kou pairing...I think I'm going to need a little more convincing, and I am willing to be converted ~_^
BTW, if you don't mind I would like to friend you, I've beenbusy lately so my Journal is quite a bit out of date I'm afraid, but I hope to be updating it soon.
