So Many Voices In My Head...

Y'know...Kougaiji has turned out to be very insistent in providing his side of this scene I was writing from Nii's POV... (laughs with a smile of sheepish amusement) I'm afraid Kou's half of the fic is longer than Nii's at this point...but neither half is finished as of yet, and I do still have some bits to fill in for the good doctor...perhaps they'll even out nicely and balance in the end...
And there's this song, that won't leave my head as I'm working on this thing...admittedly, it was sort of a source of vague inspiration to begin with...not a songfic, mind you; just...loosely related. Very loosely.
The Cure, 'Lullaby'; Disintegration, 1989
on candystripe legs the spiderman comes
softly throught the shadows of the evening sun
stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead
looking for the victim shivering in bed
searching out fear in the gathering gloom and
suddenly a movement in the corner of the room
and there is nothing i can do when i realise with fright
that the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight
quietly he laughs and shaking his head
creeps closer now closer to the foot of the bed and
softer than shadow and quicker than flies
his arms are around me and his tongue in my eyes
"be still be calm be quiet now my precious boy
don't struggle like that or i will only love you more
for it's much too late to get away or turn on the light
the spiderman is having you for dinner tonight"
and i feel like i'm being eaten by a thousand million shivering furry holes
and i know that in the morning i will wake up in the shivering cold
and the spiderman is always hungry...
And the really great thing about the song is--since Robert Smith is of course a guy--with the way he sings it, it takes on this vaguely soft-homo-erotic sort of tone all by itself, with no help whatsoever from me...
It's been raining, like mad...it did this last night, too, big splattering drops in this brief torrential downpour complete with thunder and lightning...I haven't seen a storm like that since before I left Arizona in 2000.
And the funny thing is, with the rain coming strong again today...they're re-roofing the building at work. How the heck that works, I just don't know, but...(shrugs) I'm not a roofer. (shakes head) The project is supposed to go on for a couple of weeks...I tell ya, the smells drifting down into the building are just *lovely*.
Though it's a good thing they *are* re-roofing; there are three or four leaks in my end of the building alone. Thankfully not in *my* cubicle, though... ^_^;
And...*damn* I'm hungry. Guess I ought to go wrangle some lunch...
