Had my ultrasound today:

Now we just have to settle on a name.

XD Thing is, I vetoed hubby's choice of 'Pimp Daddy Jr' when naming the first kid, so I doubt very much he'd let me get away with it.

And thanks!

Indeed, they are. I doubt very much I can talk the husband into agreeing with either, alas. ^_^;

And thanks!

LJ fail! >_<; Sorry 'bout the double-post.

Thanks! ♥

I sort of favor looking to big names from Greco-Roman history. At the same time, I don't want anything too 'weird' or unusual, because saddling a kid with something too unique can be one of the cruelest mistakes a parent can make. Alexander is out (because we used it for kid #1); I'm really leaning toward Octavian. I really like the sound of it, and I like the way it breaks down (Tavian, Tavy, even Ian) for nicknames or if he wants to 'personalize' it when he gets older.

Husband's rather stuck on a name that his brother came up with - Cody-James, or Kody-James - but it sounds very 'red-neck' to my ear, somehow, and the neighbor's dog is named Cody, so...eh.

Maybe some more research is in order.

Thanks!

Hee! Considering I wouldn't let him name the first kid 'Pimp Daddy Junior', I'm quite sure the husband won't let me name the second after favorite anime characters, however full of win they may be. T_T

Coincidentally, though, the name I favor most at the moment did belong to Hakkai in one of my favorite Reinc/AU fics. Shh. Don't tell. ^_^

I quite like Ming Ming- "bright bright-" as a milk name. Or Tao- it means "great wave."

Or Edward. It makes one think of kings. Or, I am told, teddy bears.

Ooh. Good choices all around, Your Majesty.

I'm fond of pulling 'strong' names out of Greco-Roman history, myself. Especially if they have room enough for variation when the kid's old enough to want to 'personalize' his name a little.

Hah. The Greeks. Decidedly a prejudiced lot, always hell bent on slaying dragons. Think of poor Ladon! Those were his golden apples, thank you very much. Been in his family for years- they'd spent ages cultivating that beautiful orchard. And then, instead of restitution to the Ladon family- which is what should have happened, if Zeus hadn't been so blinded by kinship- they go and make a celebrity out of Herakles! That thief and brigand!

*glowers*

It still burns me to think of it. Oh, and don't get me started on Cadmus. Brutal, what he did to that poor fellow. My teeth ache just thinking about it.

*shakes head in disgust*

I've never understood those Mediterraneans...

I'm afraid dragons have not fared very well at all in western civilization at large - too much of a 'slay first, ask questions later' mentality on that end of the continent. It's disheartening and shameful, really.

*perks up*

boy?!

whoo hoo!

k: and Octavian is a good, strong name . . .

e: shudder to think of what the children will call him at first -- especially with spiderman popular again -- but still a good name.

k: shut it, e. as long as she doesn't name him Teistocles i think all will be well. used to work in casino, and there was this Greek player who had that tragic name; probably would have been alright, but he really was a dick

anyhow, Congrats!

Heee. Thanks! And y'know, it's the 'what the children will call him' question that stays my hand from deciding on the name just yet. Or the potential for teasing when they learn about oct=eight. I mean, I'm sure he'd probably end up being a Tavian or a Tavy by default around the house/among family, and I'd hope he'd carry that out to school and such with him. That would make him Tavy Jones, which gives me pause, but it's not like anyone in his kindergarten class will know who Davy Jones is, whether Monkee or legend of the deep (unless they've been watching disney pirate movies that they shouldn't really be seeing at that age), so maybe it's not an issue. Also, I've been Traci Jones ever since I got married and have only ever had one person comment on the rhyme with Casey Jones, so I might be over-thinking it to begin with. >_<

Of course, husband worries about his nickname being OJ (since the first kid is AJ), but I'm quite sure no one will call him that if we don't start it first.

I really really like the name, but I'm just not sure about it yet. *sigh*

...Teistocles... *snort* XD
