entitys:
Grammar
Grammar is important. Not so much in casual everyday conversation, and maybe not so much in casual written conversation, but definitely in any formal writing situation and definitely in creating a readable narrative. Structure is important to any construct, and language is no exception.
Adoption
My experience with adoption is pretty much of the unofficial online variety. I'm pretty happy with any and all net-adoptions I've made, though. ^_^
Arizona
Nnh. Mixed sorts of feelings - it's 'Home' to a large part of my mind, by now, but the fondness I feel for it as a place has all come about after leaving. Those old adages, 'Don't know what you've got 'til it's gone' and 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder', and all that. Realistically, I'd love to get back for visits far more frequently than I do, but I don't know that I'd want to live there again in all seriousness. Warm winters sound heavenly, especially as I approach another February in sub-arctic clime, and while I have a new appreciation for summer and sunshine and the desert in general, I don't think I'd handle triple-digit weather all that well anymore. 'Course, there are milder places to live in AZ besides Phoenix, but it's that sprawling metropolitan big-city environment that I prefer over any of the smaller places up north.
Curls
If I had a dollar for every time someone has gushed over my natural curl or asked me 'Do you know how much women pay to get hair like that??', I'd...well, I'd have had a few more dollars to my name over the years. ^_^; I'm lucky I like my hair curly, I guess - so many times those conversations involve a friend/acquaintance/relative of the speaker who also has naturally curly hair, but hates it. *shrug*
H.I.M.
HIM is one of those Finnish bands I stumbled across a few years ago - there's a handful of songs I really like, and I'm fond of their overall sound. They're pleasantly goth-flavored and easy to listen to. I'd rec. ^_^

1. Obviously a dragon fetish thing going on. What draws you to them?
I've pondered this at length time and again, and I'm kind of afraid that a lot of it boils down to nothing more than 'Dragons are like the Coolest Thing Ever!!' leftover from childhood. It's hard to pinpoint anything specific. I could spout off about the nobility of the race in general, the appeal of sentient/intelligent 'beasts' and 'noble savage' tropes and what-not, but that's all really tied up in various interpretations and not really attached to the concept of 'dragon' by itself. Even if I narrow it down to dragons as presented in Saiyuki, most of what I'd attribute my fondness to is based on various fan-interpretations (including my own) of Goujun and his cultural background, and how some of those traits manifest in Hakuryuu as well. So...I guess maybe I owe my fetish to Saiyuki fandom? I mean, 'Dragons are cool!' is a life-long opinion, but my Saiyuki years have really brought it to the fore and fleshed it out.
The older I get, the more I find myself gravitating toward reptiles as favored animals over cute-and-furry things; I don't know if this is due to my dragon fondness or if it's perhaps a contributing factor to my dragon fondness - chicken or the egg, that sort of thing, but it's probably related somehow or other.
I...don't know that I actually answered the question all that well. ^_^;
2. Describe the process through which you create headcanon for your characters.
Never really thought about it. I suppose it's a matter of interpreting canon and filtering it with other fan-interpretations and meshing the various similarities that 'feel' right to get a sense of 'who this person is/has been'. Anything I'd regard as my own head-canon kind of stems off of that, what I think might mesh with that personality and/or circumstance...uhm. Sort of...interpreting all the various 'versions' I might encounter of a character and flavoring it with a little of my own opinion on top? Don't know that I'm making much sense, really. I mean, I obviously have head-canon - I just...it develops in little dribs and drabs along the way and it's hard to say how, sometimes. Lots of times someone else presents an idea that I'd never considered, but it sparks a lightbulb moment of 'OMG that makes so much sense!' or 'S/He's right, but I'd never realized that!' and then that often becomes 'real' in my view of a character, etc. Try not to plagiarize other people's ideas, of course, but often they'll provide threads in the fabric that makes up what I eventually see as the whole.
3. Choose one of each of the following pairings. What do you think your choices say about you? Ketchup/Mustard, Coke/Pepsi, Dog/Cat, Marvel/DC, Sun/Moon.
Ketchup - I like my spice with a bit of sweet mixed in
Coke - ...I'm picky? Pepsi tastes too much like the smell of a sneeze, imo
Cat - ...I'm more drawn to reserve and 'elegance' than boundless enthusiasm? (I'm miserably allergic to cats, tho)
Marvel - Between the characters I know from either 'house', there are more from Marvel who resonate with me on a deeper level. I don't know what this says about me - maybe a gravitation toward forward-thinking more than tradition?
Moon - Uh, simplest answer probably speaks to my desire to be 'known' or have power on a scaled-back by-proxy level - not the main focus/person, but a supporting, equally-vital sort of role. Like being the bass-player instead of the lead singer. Or maybe just that I'd get on better with Koumyou Sanzo than Genjyo Sanzo. *dork*
4. How close to the mark was Northern Exposure?
Ah, well. Having never seen it, I can't really say. ^_^; My husband, however, reports that from what he recalls, it wasn't grossly off the mark but it wasn't really spot-on, either. Of course, he's always lived in the 'big' city, here, and I understand the show was set in a more remote community, so take the vague answer with a grain of equally vague salt. ^_^;

1. If you were a superhero, what would be your superpower and what is your majestically heroic name?
I'm going to be completely selfish and say that being amphibious is my superpower. Not likely to be much help in a bettering-or-saving-the-world sense, but I would enjoy it to no end. And my name would be...Amphibia? >_<; Yeah, lemme think a little more on that.
2. If you had to spend your day with a fictional character you hate, what would you do and who would it be?
Hate's a strong word for it, but. It would probably be Sasuke from Naruto. I'd probably spend the day trying to have enough of a conversation to hopefully gain a better understanding of him and more sympathy for his situation. I don't know how successful I'd be - he'd probably kill or incapacitate me for being annoying and useless before an hour had passed and be on his way, but...well, I'd try. ^_^;
3. I know you like Saiyuki and Star Trek. What other fandoms do you obsess about? Tell me! ♥
Umm...Naruto. There's a lot that I like about Naruto, a lot of really fun characters to work with. Haven't done much fic over there, but there's a lot of potential. Gaara is...hyngh. *_* And Lee is so much huggable love. ♥ Lots of other people and personalities, too. Gundam Wing was my obsessive fandom before Saiyuki; I look back at the series now and find that the plot is rather slow-moving and a bit boring, but my favorite characters still get me fired up. I have unfinished fics that need writing for them, and one or two new ideas that beg attention also. ^_^
I also like Pet Shop of Horrors (or rather, I like the interplay and chemistry between D and Leon), and Avatar: The Last Airbender, and there's a pairing (and a couple other characters) that I'm very fond of in X-Men. I don't know if I'd call any of them obsessive, but they're definitely worth mentioning. ^_^
4. What's the perfect lunch outing? XD Who would be there, and what's on the menu? :D
Hee. My favorite lunch dates have been in the summer-time, on sunny days, when my husband and my kid pick me up from work for an hour and we go to the park. AJ gets to play, and we usually have something from one of the fast-food sandwich franchise chains - Subway or Quizno's or something. It's simple, but it's very nice. ^_^
