...crapcakes. There's no shuttle from SFO to Ycon hotel when I arrive Wed morning. Glad to find this out now instead of, y'know, when I get there. Y'see, TJ? Pays to plan ahead... -_-;

*starts looking at alternate arrangements*

No shuttle? But the hotel website claimed 'complimentary shuttle service.' Am I to take it this meant a 'where conditions apply' type thing?

And is there a shuttle schedule somewhere, so I can make sure all my little ducklings get where they're supposed to be going?? ',:t

...It did? (hopeful) Firstly, let me confirm: This is the right hotel? (http://www.sanmateomarriott.com/)

I'm going on the Ycon community info - they've arranged to have an event shuttle between SFO and the hotel for certain hours Thursday - Monday, but it sounds like before this arrangement and outside these hours there's not a shuttle. Which leaves me looking for a cab or booking a super shuttle for a 9am Wednesday arrival time.

Uhm, here - cut from update-comm post:

HOTEL SHUTTLE REMINDER

The Marriott Hotel has limited complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. The times it runs are as follows, but be aware there may be up to a 30 minute wait.

Thursday, September 25th 12 noon to 8PM
Friday, September 26th 8AM to 8PM
Saturday, September 27th 8AM to 5PM
Sunday, September 28th 12 noon to 8PM
Monday, September 29th 8AM to 8PM

NOTE: Please look for the shuttle downstairs with the Yaoi-Con sign in the window, outside baggage claim, NOT upstairs with the regular hotel shuttles. DO NOT take the upstairs shuttle that says Marriott San Francisco Airport Hotel. You want to go to San Mateo, not Millbrae/Burlingame.

Ack, I had thought they did send a shuttle...but a phone call just confirmed that they don't, unless specifically booked, which is what the women organizing the con must have done. (I was probably thinking of back when the con took place at the Milbrae/Burlingame Marriott.)

Go with Joe, then. I've heard she's just looking for any excuse to take off work before the con. >:d

What time do you get in? I could possible take the morning off work and come pick you up/drop you off at the hotel. :)

That's...well, hey, that's an awesome offer! *^_^* Flight's scheduled to arrive around 8:45 on Wed morning. And thank you for offering, whether it works for you or not. It's really sweet. ^_^

That's pretty good. I'll ask on Tuesday for the morning off. :d I'll let you know then if I can swing it. We can get breakfast/brunch or something. :D

If Inyx is coming in sometime in the am, too, we could grab her as well?

Inyx is coming in Monday, so she'll be at the hotel already.

And if it doesn't work out, I can always grab a shuttle/cab/whatever. ^_^ Thanks, again!

Less than two weeks!

We're good to go.

One of the partners still has to sign to totally approve my day off, but as the manager said "ok", it's pretty much a done deal.

And no rushing, I took the whole day off~ :3

Whoo! Awesomeness - thank you! ^_^ I won't last too long after a red-eye flight (I can't sleep much on planes, alas), but breakfasty something would be a really good idea.

Again, thank you! We'll have to hash out meet-up details before then. ^_^

Question for you. Inyx was wondering if you'd mind picking her up from the hotel before you come by the airport to get me - she wanted to talk commissions and such on the way and join us for brunch and whatever. Would that work out all right for you?

Also, I am totally willing to pitch in for gas, since you're being so nice as to come get me and gas prices are through the roof and all. ^_^

Unfortunately, no.. T_T it's over an hour from here to the hotel in normal traffic and I'll be dealing with all sorts of morning commuter traffic at 8 in the morning. (Are you coming in oakland or SFO btw?)

We could always pick her up from the hotel after I get you and get brunch then? :D

That would work out fine, I think. 8 is an icky hour to be driving.

And wow, I miss living someplace big enough to drive for over an hour and still be in the same city/metro area. You can drive all the way across Anchorage and out, through the next small town and be on to the next in about 45 min. Way too small for my taste, even though it does mean shorter commutes for work/shopping and such. T_T

I'm coming in to SFO. Do you want to meet up at baggage claim? Because I'm totally down with getting my shit and waiting out on the curb if you'd rather avoid the whole parking hassle.

The SF/Bay Area/East Bay Area is huge and then traffic adds on a lot of the time. It usually takes me about an hour to get to SFO, it'll be a bit longer when I get you (good chance I'll be late) because I'm going with all the commuters into the city right at morning rush hour. One time at midnight on a sunday, I got to SFO in twenty minutes, it was a miracle.

Baggage claim would be best, and if I could get your cell# that would help.

I would leave out earlier if I could, but I still have to take April to work.;;;

Late is not a problem at all. I'm really grateful that you'd make the trip in at all. ^_^

I'll email you my cell# - what's the best address to send to?

I can wait at the hotel, then we can hit someplace for food. And Thanks, I appreciate it! I can't wait to see you both!

Does anyone have any idea how much a cab might cost from Oakland airport to the hotel? A rental car was suggested to me as being cheaper.

Date: 2008-09-20 07:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jibii.livejournal.com
Pretty expensive, I'd image. I remember it costing me fifteen bux just to go a couple miles a few years ago.

Rental cars are pretty nice (considering you'll be in town for quite a few days.)

I'm trying to see how you'd wing it the cheapest, but from OAK there's not a lot of choice. Damn, I wish they'd expand the BART more.

Sorry;;;; What time are you coming in?

>_<' I know, it was a stupid thing to do, but I was *sure* I wanted a non-stop flight. Ugh, anyway, I found a shuttle service for $59, which is better than a cab ride ($75-85, or more). It's too bad, because Oakland is only 25 miles from the hotel. I would take the Bart/Caltrain, but since I didn't ship the button stuff, it's in my two suitcases, which would make it a chore to use the trains.

I did check on rental cars too, but it would be more than $100 for the week, and not worth it since I don't want to drive and try to find parking in the city.

I am coming in at noon on Monday, the 22nd. If I had planned it better, I would have tried to see if I could have shared a ride with others but I don't think many are coming in on Monday. If anything I will try to find some people to share the cost for the ride back to the airport.

I'll just be taking a cab, which I am sure is going to cost and arm...if not a leg too. Oh well, Y-con is just once a year after all.
