Date: 2007-05-17 05:19 am (UTC)Hazel's a pain sometimes, yeah, but if you think about his motivations, many of them aren't that far away at all from many of the more sympathetic (and favored) Minekura characters. Self-centeredness, check; holding high ideals unique to himself and pursuing them in a solo or nearly solo fasion, check; blatant disregard for behaving the way others expect he "should," check; a root desire to enact his definition of "good" on the world, check!

He used Lirin in the anime and used a random youkai kid for his own purpose and eventually killing them without a reason. Is it why they always say, "Never talk to strangers." or "Take candy from a stranger." Hakkai as Gonou used to teach elementary school kids. He has experience as far I'm concerned, and taking care of Goku from time-to-time.
The description also fits Nii as well. But Nii's characteristics are more justified with the ways he do things with a reason behind it, even though is selfish. Besides, he's made himself a home in Houtou Castle, that pretty much cancels out.
