My Depeche Mode is disappearing on me.
I pulled out my Violator CD the other day, wanting to analyze 'Halo' in a Gojyo/Hakkai mindset. Only...the CD wasn't in the case. Nor was it in any of the other CD cases that I looked through, in my car or at my desk. Nor was it in any of the numerous CD binders in my back seat. The last place I recall seeing it was bringing it in to work from the car somewhere in the past month; and I don't know for certain if it went *back* or not. Did I slip it into some other case, take it back, misplace it? Or did I leave it in the player on my desk and somehow someone swiped it?
And that's not the only thing. My 'Personal Jesus' CD single is missing, too. Which...the various mixes of 'PJ' are really no big loss; but the b-side, 'Dangerous'--that's the one I was after. I went looking for it months ago, thinking of Nii/Kou, and found that the case & CD were both MIA. I'm *sure* that I brought it into work back when I started in late summer 2003; but now I can't find it anywhere. And while my husband did spend a couple of months trying to convince me that he'd thrown it out the car window one time because he was pissed at me, he finally admitted when Violator turned up missing that no, he really *didn't* have anything to do with it.
And the kicker is, I never ripped either of them to my PC. >_< So it's not like I can burn a replacement or even *listen* to the songs I'm after without adding more to the rapidly-growing list of CDs I Must Buy.
Violator can be replaced relatively simply, assuming I search the car again and still can't turn it up. But the single...I got it at Best Buy years ago, in AZ, when they were well-stocked with all kinds of DM singles. But I've looked at the Best Buy up here, and I haven't found *any* singles in months. Since it's just the one song I'm after, and since Jeff gave me a Napster card worth 15 songs for my birthday, I thought about doing it that way. But Napster doesn't have it. (growls) Bastards.
And dammit, I really *like* that song! (sighs) And it would fit quite well into my Nii/Kou writing mix. (headdesks) I *need* it, dammit, I *NEEEEED* it!
Pissed about Violator, too; because that CD was Benjamin's. It's of personal value beyond the price of purchase. A little thing; but I'd really rather not lose it.
