Hi ho, hi ho...

Having slept in considerably the past week and a half, I was more than reluctant to get out of bed this morning. Having worn neither nylons nor heels for 11 days running, it was greatly saddening to don both again, alas. But. Returning to work wasn't really all that bad. The weather being cold and rainy helped a little, in that it wasn't more gorgeous sunshine teasing me with what I was missing. The morning moved a little weirdly, in trying to re-adjust to the environment as well as adjust to the new space and setup (since they moved me out of my office while I was gone, per the plan). But by the afternoon I'd got past the 'been gone forever' feel to the 'gee I never left' feel. Eheh. ^_^'
Not that I want to be back, or couldn't use another week or ten of vacation, but my head's in a much more positive place today than it was last night.
I was worried about Goujun last night, too; he was very lethargic all day and seemed rather depressed. I couldn't spot any signs of fungus, but it'd be white-on-white and I don't know that I would. So I was worried, and not wanting to jinx things by speaking of it. Today, though, he's much more active and his fins aren't all closed and he seems more like himself. Perhaps he was simply cold, as the weather did go south. Either that, or I've got a fish who mirrors my moods. O_O *ponders*

Date: 2006-06-01 03:13 pm (UTC)As for the fish - don't worry. They get moody sometimes for no goddamn good reason. *shrug* Temperature could have been part of it, yes.
And for future reference, look at him down through the open top of the tank when checking for fungus. It will disturb his silhouette and that, you'll easily notice.
(Which reminds me, you know how you're supposed to get to know the healthy topography of your own body so you can notice things that are wrong with it that much sooner? Assuming you haven't already, it'd be a good idea to apply that thought to your fish, especially while viewing through the top of the water, which doesn't distort like the sides of the tank do. Comparative body sizes (compared to each other, that is) are useful to be familiar with too - I know I was glad that I'd taken note of D's excessive thinness when he got sick, 'cause the first thing that happened was he doubled in size. This doubling only took him to Phinneas-fattness, but it was still an unhealthy size for D. *nod*)
...why does EVERY comment I make on your journal end up being fish advice? XD

Date: 2006-06-02 05:36 am (UTC)Ohh, yes, that makes sense. *proceeds to observe both of them from the top*
*wrinkles nose* They...smell different. Huh. Perhaps because Goujun has actual gravel
with its own distinctinve odorand Nataku only has the glass stones. Mmh. Goujun is thinner, too. And he's so translucent that I can see blood vessels in his body and in the rays of his fins, too. Not to mention the shadow of spine, and of inner-body mass up front. For your input, though, as I haven't turned up anything about it online yet: Goujun doesn't make aggressive displays very often, but when he does, the floofiness behind his gills only floofs on one side. Both gills/cheeks raise up, but the frills behind only puff out on his right. I wonder if perhaps it's damage from a fight before I got him, especially as his tail seems a little shorter than I keep thinking it ought to be. Or perhaps a genetic thing? *shakes head* I don't know. He seems quite healthy otherwise, so I haven't really worried much about it. But I thought I'd mention it, O Kind Purveyor of Fishly Wisdom, in the event that you know something I don't. ^_~
