Why I Love My IT Guy:

'Kay. So, IT-Guy has the same complaint as many others in management, i.e. nobody reads their company-wide emails. And then everyone complains every Thursday when various drives and/or servers and/or systems are taken offline for scheduled maintenance. Which was emailed earlier in the week.

So. This morning, we all get this:

Sent: Monday, April 24, 2006 9:21 AM
Subject: FREE Laptops in IT - read more for details



We will be shutting down our entire network on 27 Apr (this Thursday) at 5:00pm . We have received our new battery backup system (all 1,100lbs) and will be replacing/upgrading ALL of our UPS/battery backups/etc. in our server room.



FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. Can I use the phones ?

A. There won't be a dial tone, but...go for it.



Q. Can I surf the internet ?

A. Yes, from home.



Q. When can I go back to work ?

A. Friday.



Q. I know the network will be down, I know the internet will be down, I know the email server will be offline, however, can I send and receive emails ?

A. Bahahahahahaha. No.

Over the months, I've watched his snark-factor escalating in these weekly emails in direct proportion to the flak he gets from all the people 'too busy' to read emails marked 'IMPORTANT'. *snrk* It's very, very amusing.
