True election-day story, as relayed by my fifth-grader:

He goes into school this morning, and the teacher says something about it being a Very Important Day today, and does anyone know why?

So my kid shoots his hand in the air and, when called on, says, "Because Halo 4 comes out today!!"

Ah, to be that carefree.

Wouldn't that be lovely? My sister teacher kindergarten and when they asked her class who was running, one of the kids said "Obama!" When asked who else was running, they ventured: "Washington?"

Ahhh, man. I wouldn't be a kid again for anything, y'know, but sometimes I do miss the simplicity of it. ^_^;

I mean, if I could go back and give myself advice, I might be tempted, but I don't really want to go through all that again. I like being able to make important decisions for myself, like "I want bacon for dinner!"
