Aug. 16th, 2009 10:28 pmNot long ago I was ranting over a proposal before the city assembly and all the hoopla raised up around it. Amazingly enough, the Assembly passed an amended version of the proposal this past Tuesday. Now we wait to see if the mayor is going to veto. But it's a step, at least.
In other, less important news: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Brilliant idea. I mean really. XD It's almost tempting to go find and read it, and I've never had any interest whatsoever in Jane Austen. ^_^;
Also, on the subject of books. I'm finally reading the Wolf's Rain manga I picked up awhile back. Saw a fair bit of the anime several years ago, and the story...it still strikes me as interesting and having potential, and I still quite like the four principal characters. I...had a reason for bringing this up, but damned if I can remember now what it was. ^_^;; Once I finish that second volume, I'll dive into the huge pile o' Naruto that I've been building up. After a quick stop for PSoH Tokyo 5.
The Tokyo Petshop series...ehh. I do like it, quite a lot, and it's squeefully awesome to have more Count D in the world. But I miss Leon, I miss the dynamic that D and Leon had in the first ten volumes. I mean, Woo-fei has his own charms, sure, but...he's just not Leon. A passable foil for D, certainly, but not as perfect a fit as Leon was. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Leon shows up significantly later on, since a few token pages in the first couple volumes indicate that he is out traveling the world trying to find D. ♥
And AJ bought his first manga yesterday, too. A Pokemon book; took him a little coaching to figure out the right-to-left reading, but I found him asleep in his bed last night with the book still in his hand and his light still on. Somehow, this makes me incredibly proud. ^_^ Not only that he's up late reading instead of playing his DS, but also because it's manga. Like he's following in my footsteps, or some other phrase equally trite and cliched.
