The Post of Much Randomness
Jan. 16th, 2007 07:25 pmI arrived at work this morning to find that the power was out. Sporadically. They managed to run us on backup power for about an hour, but no compys allowed up and running because it just wasn't a reliable fix. I spent the morning in the dark and under seizure-inducing flickering lights (plus no less than ten different battery backups to various printers and such beeping bloody murder) cleaning up old crap that had accumulated in my various office spaces over the past couple of years and gotten shifted from one to the next with each move. Around ten-thirty they announced that the entire building was being shut down for the day - go home.
So of course I stayed another hour to keep cleaning, because once I get into the 'groove' of cleaning up it's difficult to just drop it. Because I know it'll be months upon months before I'm taken with such an urge + opportunity again. ^_^;If only I had a reluctant Konzen-in-kerchief to dust for me, alas.
Aaaanyway. I am giftetd with an unforeseen day off. Not that I don't appreciate the unexpected respite. But this is our third week into Conversion and while all hell is no longer breaking loose, it's still straining its leash and snapping at the gates. I've been working until seven-thirty every night the past two weeks, and I still don't feel at all on top of the situation. So it's not like today was a good day to be shut down.
Regardless, I'll not complain. ^_^ Life will go on with its frantic pace tomorrow, and perhaps I'll be better for the break. Freaking over the day lost on payroll will not make it go any faster come the morning.
So. I figure now is as good a time as any to ramble on in an update-y fashion, as I've not done so in what feels like a very long time.
Of course, figuring out where to start would be a good first step, ne?
Uhm. Lessee. My gifting haul, between anniversary and xmas and birthday, was respectable enough. I'm Bus Gamer and Reload 6 and four more volumes of Kenshin richer, plus the first volume of Kamen Tantei and the first two of Genju no Seiza - both by Matsuri Akino (Pet Shop of Horrors), which is why I picked them up. The Minekura, of course, are the only ones I've read so far. And I haven't exhausted my manga-fund yet, either, yay. ^_^
There's also the lovely messenger bag in blue and black brocade with red-gold dragons, the incredibly-hot-and-long-legged-Sha-Gojyo-sama-on-a-keychain (Hakkai was sold out, apparently T_T) the BPAL Sea of Glass (which I've been meaning to review forever) plus pretty-girly Egyptian glass perfume bottle for it, the display-replica of Kenshin's sakabatou - *drools over* - and the latest addition to my betta brood, whom I've yet to properly introduce.
( Meet Kougaiji-sama )
The other fish are doing well, too, for the most part - Nataku rules over his little plant with an iron fin and Goujun, despite a couple more bouts with floating-ness and a habit of playing dead, is also well. In fact - here.

On a sadder note, however, I lost Mordred. T_T Not sure why, or how, but...within half a day, he went from normal to dead. So I am back down to three. And I think that I won't be getting any of my future fish from Petco, because all three that died? Came from there.
Three of AJ's Shubunkins died, also, for reasons we can't figure out. So Cera, the one who's still alive, now has new companions - a black moor (cutest. face. EVAR.) named Mario and a little calico fantail named Yoshi.
Elsewise. My mother and her new 'soulmate' are at drastic odds over religion. Imagine that. -_-x My dad is open to her talk of reconciliation, although adamant that his needs/wants/life/etc will be given equal consideration. *eyeroll* Whatever, y'know? I want the best for both of them. I am entirely supportive of both of them. But I have more pressing and personal and immediate matters to devote my brain to than stressing over them and whether or not they can stay this path of Change and Progress from so far away.
I need to upload my Y-con photos. Hell, I need to finish re-sizing them first. Eheh. ^_^;
I also need to go log ino my account on the 2x5mL archive, since it's heading for a reopening, and clean up descriptions, ratings and the like.
I have spent the afternoon playing V-smile games with AJ. My favorite has to be the game where you get to take a chibi-Wolverine grocery shopping. ^_^
My Yu-Gi-Oh deck is nowhere near the size or strength of AJ's. T_T He defeats me soundly everytime we play. Not that either of us if terribly proficient in the game, y'know - there's so many subtleties and nuances and technicalities that it makes my bloody head spin. But we've got the bare basics, and...well, my most powerful card is a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon that I can't use because I haven't got the three Blue-Eyes White Dragons necessary for the fusion summon. AJ has a much wider range of monsters to use, and he's quickly learning how to use them and how to plan his attacks based on whose points are higher.
He's learning to read, too. He's got a Spongebob book and a Lazy Town book that he can read mostly all on his own. ^_^ So proud, I am. Even if I can't believe it's time for him to be starting school come Fall.
Aaaanyway. I'm...sure there was more I meant to ramble on about, and a number of music posts I still want to make, but. NCIS is on. Followed by House. So I must go. Except! 24 started up over the weekend, and! Siddig el Fadil...er, wait. He changed his name. Alexander Siddig. He's on 24 this season! The shadow of my old Sue-ridden Bashir fangirl is just giddy with delight. Eheh. ^_^
