It's official. Murphy is a bitch.

I point you to this weekend's post, and the post-link therein. Specifically, the line in the older one about Murphy's law dictating that the instant I replace any of the missing pieces, they'll show up.

Yesterday, while going through a box full of CDs, I found the missing Personal Jesus single.

Yep.

Never mind that the PJ single went MIA well over a year ago and that I searched this very box three or four times through on multiple occasions looking for both the missing CDs and neither of them was there each and every time . I got a hold of both mixes of the song I really wanted off it last week online. So of course now I find it again.

Guess now I just sit back and wait for Violator to show up, eh?

Oh. Wait. No, that won't happen until I find and download every song on there that I don't have elsewhere on compilation albums, not just the one I was particularly craving. Feh.

So yes. Murphy. Bitch. Or else my husband knows something about this whole Missing-DM affair that he's keeping mum about...

Because music is currently my daily salvation:

The Smithereens: Blood and Roses An old favorite. Bass-driven, stripped-down and simple.

Concrete Blonde: Bloodletting Vampires and New Orleans conveyed by a slightly-menacing 2/4 swing. The lyrics are nothing spectacular, but I'm willing to overlook for the very-tasty mood of the song.

The Revolting Cocks: Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? A rollicking, swaggering, self-confident cover of Rod Stewart. A bit lewd, to be sure, but very good stuff regardless. It also, for one reason or another, gives me some very specific visuals.

And, because I fricking love this band and can't for the life of me seem to shake the addiction: More Nightwish.

Dead Boy's Poem And yes, Goujun has quietly gathered this one onto his playlist as well.
Lyrics

Sleeping Sun So wistfully melancholy. The imagery this brings to my mind is just achingly beautiful. And will hopefully one day get written.
Lyrics

Over the Hills and Far Away Celtic flavored! Narrative verse couched in a nice swift 6/8 flow.
Lyrics

Where Were You Last Night? A bit different than what I've come to expect of them. Very '80's arena-rock sing-along-hit-anthem feeling, and it lacks their usual lyrical polish and originality/creativity. Which leads me to speculate about the possibility that it's either a) a very early offering or b) perhaps a cover tune. Or maybe they simply felt like doing something a bit different. ^_^ In any case, I find it very catchy and ultimately a nice little bit of fun.
