For the record: I am not dead.
I just tend to withdraw and disappear under stress. Of which there has been far too much lately at work. I've been almost completely off-line for a little over two weeks, which kind of shocks me to realize. But. Things are looking up now at work; we've fallen back and re-grouped and hopefully after I take this week off and go back Monday, we can start fresh and keep things under control. Especially since I won't have any performance reviews to give for a few more months yet. (shakes head) It's not even like writing or giving the review was all that bad in actuality. But the dread of anticipation that I put myself through beforehand--it didn't help things at all. I think that may well turn out to be the worst part of this job. My people skills are sadly under-developed for the task. *siiigh*
One bit of good news, though--that WIP that I lost? I finally found free-demo software that managed to recover half of it. The first five or six paragraphs that opened it are gone, and there's a tiny chunk midway through that got eaten, and the entire final scene with Kanzeon was garbled into gibberish and will have to be re-written. But the meat of what was there has been recovered. So re-constructing it won't be quite so disheartening a task. Perhaps I'll make some progress on it this week. I'd like to. Time off would be ideal for getting some writing done. Even with the family duties to tend to.
I actually spent a little time taking an interest in television again. Reruns of Angel on Sunday nights are good. I do love the off-beat quirkiness of Joss Whedon's world. Watching Puppet!Angel kick the crap out of Spike put me in stitches. Though I've been having to ignore the crossover-bunny temptation to reincarnate Tenpou and Kenren as Giles and Spike, on a Buffy-note. Also, with the SciFi channel airing new seasons of their Friday night lineup, I'm both intrigued by the addition of Ben Browder yet wary of an SG-1 without O'Neill, and beginning to find certain characters on SG Atlantis very endearing. And quite looking forward to the promised man-to-man kiss in the coming weeks there. ^_^
...I should scan a couple of these pages from Saiyuki vol 9 for the Ukoku fans out there...
Inyx-sama, the new tat looks smashing. And I think you can definitely get away with the 'hawk. Especially if you do decide to dye it fire-engine red. ^_~
Brad, Alias--I trust the two of you are having fun. And wreaking all sorts of wonderful fic-worthy havoc. And Brad, I'll be sure to let you know when the package arrives.
Y'know...I slept 7 hours straight last night, and then 3 or 4 more on top of that. I think that's the closest I've come to a good night's rest in a very long time.
If you'll excuse me, I have a few fics to catch up on. ^_^
