Random Complaint-ness...
Dec. 14th, 2004 01:48 pmIt was snowing heavily when I drove home last night. Huge, thick flakes in great drifts that cut visibility by a great deal. Looked like white leaves falling from the sky. And I'm creeping sedately along behind the taillights in front of me going, 'I'm a Zonie girl. I am not meant to be driving in this. I want to go home, thankyouverymuch'. It's funny, really, how I cursed the desert plenty in the seventeen years I lived there but now all I want is to go back after four years in the sub-arctic. (shivers)
And then this morning the snowfall has cleared, and the world is dark because the sun won't be up until 10 or so and even then the world will be frosted and colorless and dreary as hell and why, why, *why* do we still live here?
Ah. Yes. The good job. That's right. (siiiigh)
And so I get to play Count the Cars in the Ditch on the way into work.
...Is it too mean-spirited of me to laugh when I see that one of the city plows has taken a dive into the snowbank off the side of the road and there are two others trying to get it out again?
Ahh, f*ckit--I don't particularly care at the moment. (laughs anyway)
And I am just not in the mood to work today. I would love to simply skip out for the rest of the afternoon.
But alas. I can't be taking such a hit to the Almighty Paycheck.
(headdesks) I'm so tempted to pull a Tenpou...yes, that's exactly what I need to do--scrunch down andhide sit on the floor behind my desk where no one can see and lose myself in a good book.
If anyone needs me, I'll be catching up on my reading. And if you run across any Kenren-shaped distractions, please, don't hesitate to send them my way.
Many thanks.
