Ishida Akira, Uber-Uke Extraordinaire

Alright. I'm shallow.

I watched Level C again last night; and knowing that it's Ishida Akira voicing Mizuki suddenly made it much much hotter. Nothing has changed; the little irksome things are still in there and the plot is still Swiss cheese; but somehow having a familiarity with and a frame of reference for the voice ramps up the sexiness far past my initial impressions. Invisible genitalia notwithstanding.

I mean, honestly--what the hell, yo? They show the things in het porn with no qualms...(shakes head)

Back to the point. It was much more enjoyable this time around, simply on the merits of that voice. Not at all the same as what he does for Hakkai, naturally; it's...it's interesting to hear him bring life to a completely different character yet still have the same underlying qualities to the voice that hooked me in the first place...gah--what exactly am I trying to say? I'm afraid I'm no good at expressing myself clearly. Perhaps what I'm trying to say is simply that his voice is unbearably lovely. Different as expected from one character to the next (and I'd dearly love to hear more of them, now) but still retaining that inherent quality of sameness throughout--that underlying softness and the warm timbre that carries it...(flaps hands in a helpless gesture of inarticulate frustration) Yeah. I find his voice addictive. Despite the fact that he sounds positively pre-teen in the sex scenes. (flushes darkly) And I feel so terribly dirty, because I still enjoyed it anyway.

I do like this song, though, I've decided. Beyond his lovely voice. It...kind of sounds like Enigma and Real McCoy got together and decided to attempt a retro-motown sound behind his vocals. (shakes head) Don't mind me. Aimless musings at this point.

And the funny thing is, when I was writing up this entry at work today, I didn't even realize it was the man's birthday...how odd. ^_^
