All in all, an interesting day...

I drove across town to the Northway mall today, because I felt like a 'drive' and because they have a Suncoast and a Waldenbooks. The Suncoast on my side of town hasn't had my manga in stock and I'm only hell-bent on Suncoast instead of the myriad other places I could search at the moment because I had a three-for-two coupon good only at Suncoast that I'm not about to waste. So. Drove across town. Found enough manga for the coupon, even though they still didn't have Eerie Queerie 3 or Pet Shop 7 like I really wanted. Got Saiyuki 3, though, which is really the most important; and King of Hell 6 and Model 2. The jury's still out on Model, though; maybe I'll post a review after I've read the 2nd volume.

Anyway. Next stop: Waldenbooks. Because people have been talking about Saiyuki figures at Waldenbooks for months. But neither local Waldenbooks has had them yet. And they still didn't today. (growls) Betcha I could find them if I was still back in Phoenix... (sigh)

Hey--those of you who've bought the figures/models/statuettes--how much are they selling for? Just so I can be fully prepared if ever they *do* make their way up here...

So anyway. I also stopped into OfficeMax to price a couple of things; and while there, I heard--of all things--the English themesong from Rurouni Kenshin. Which kinda gave me a 'WTF?' moment, until I realized it wasn't coming from the in-store music system but rather from the computer department (once AJ led me to it). They were playing a RK dvd on several of the systems. The episode that introduces Sano. I stood there and watched a few moments (mostly because AJ was all excited about 'Mom! Mom! That's Row-ee Kinshin!') and it just reminded me...I *really* don't want to watch anymore of the series dubbed. Kenshin's voice is just...all wrong, somehow. I expect him to sound like Trowa and/or Hakkai. And Sanosuke's voice sounds far too much like Right Said Fred's 'I'm Too Sexy' for me to buy into it as a serious character voice. I would hope that the original voices would be better; but there's something about the anime still that makes me go '...Eh. I'll stick with the manga...' Can't really finger just what that is, though.

Anyway. So there went my day, with nary a thing getting done on the comp...or my many clamoring fics/ideas begging to become fics... (siigh). If anyone knows how to squeeze more hours out of the day, I'd love to hear the secret...
