tj_dragonblade: (Goujun Ocean Soul)

It has been raining for about two weeks straight, now. Or...well, there are off-and-on days, and there are cats-and-dogs days, but for a good fifteen days or so the area's been blanketed in grey cloudcover. The surrounding mountains have been all but invisible, not to mention the sky.

Thursday, then, I was delighted to leave the house to blue sky and *gasp* sunshine!, even if it was very blind-making in combination with wet roads on the drive to work. Even if seeing the mountains again meant seeing the snows at their peaks that was not there before the clouds rolled in. T_T

And yet, by mid-morning, all was grey and raining once more. Has hardly let up since. *sigh*

Not that I dislike the rain, mind you. Quite the opposite. I just...with winter looming ever closer on the horizon, it would be nice to have had another day or two of blazing sunshine before summer fled the playing field.

Besides which, when the weather is like this, I'd much rather be out on the road in view of the ocean than chained to the desk at work or set upon by various household mundanities every evening. This weather blends well with the sea. There's something about the greyness that soothes the soul. I mean...ack.

You see, the skies are enamored of the seas, and have courted their affections throughout the ages. The seas, of course, are independent and headstrong, and refuse to be bound no matter how flattering the attention. Every so often, however, the two will come together in a glorious display of passion. The clouds settle low, skim the land and caress the seas; the ocean, ever the taunting lover, writhes up to meet the misty kisses and twists away again, rolling against the rocky shores, dancing about the feet of the mountains as it runs away behind their forested skirts. The skies give chase, enchanted by the game, loosing the rains to entice the seas back into their embrace. And when the seas give in, the union is glorious and primal, cleansing and beautiful, while the mountains preside in stately silence.

And I, I am just as much a voyeur to this age-old tryst as the flocks of grounded seagulls hunkered down on narrow strips of beach to wait it out.

So. Yes. The wind and the rain and the sea and the sky, and...yes. ^_^;

Now if only I could figure out where the damned snow fits in. -_-;
