Your Daily Dose of Nii/Kou

...I looked up 'drabble' in the dictionary...I hadn't realized it was a real word. And while there's no literary definition given, it is in fact a verb: "make or become wet and dirty: to become, or make something, wet and dirty". (from the MSN Encarta online dictionary) ^_^ No wonder the word sounds messily impolite!

Title: Puppet Master
Rated: PG
Word Count: 100
Characters: Nii

I am fortunate, indeed. One might even say I'm quite spoiled, really. So many playthings, and nothing to do but twist them all to my will...

But of course, I have my favorites. There is a favorite in *every* toy box, after all.

My precious little rabbit...how he delights me! He is so much stronger than all the others. Things that don't break, no matter how roughly they're played with--those are the most rewarding, by far.

Ah, yes--dance, my little rabbit; dance for me, on these binding strings that I've tangled about you...

And with that, the creativity begins to flow once again...I hope. ^_^; I mean, I've been trying to get *that* one written since 'Toys' was announced as a challenge theme two weeks ago. -_-; Or was it three, by now?

Anyway. More evidence in favor of Nii/Kou:

Firstly, there's the whole metaphor of crows and rabbits that keeps making its appearance. And as Brad pointed out, there's the fact that Nii has put himself in the position of 'predator' despite the fact that he himself is a rabbit under the Chinese zodiac to back up Koumyou's observation that he seeks to be devoured. Lovely subtle metaphors and symbolism that are just delightful. But wait, there's more! Kougaiji, too, was born Year of the Rabbit. Naturally, then, 'predator' Nii is going to treat him as 'prey'. But beyond that...the man is undeniably fond of his rabbits. Observe how important a place the bunny doll occupies in his life. Some speculate that this is because it's the hiding place for the scripture he had as a Sanzo. (shrugs) I think it's nothing quite so trite, myself, never mind the fact that I'm still debating whether or not Ukoku would have been entrusted with a scripture. I don't think I've yet seen anything manga or anime dealing with that specific point, but the fact that Ukoku was never fully official-ized with the mark on the forehead *and* the fact that Koumyou had custodianship of two sutras seems rather telling to me...

I'm drifting off topic. As usual. ^_^; Back to Nii.

I think, perhaps, that the bunny doll serves as a sort of symbolism for his obsessive fascination with Kougaiji. He has called Kougaiji his 'little rabbit', after all. And he keeps the bunny with him at all times. He holds conversations with it. He speaks for it. He puppeteers it. He exerts the sort of control over it that he appears to strive for with Kougaiji. Only Kou, of course, is nowhere near so compliant as his 'lovely doll'. Which is entirely the point of the fascination.

Even on a simpler note, it's clear between the doll and the coffee mug and the slippers that the bunny is a favorite motif for the dear doctor. Which makes the fact that he would speak of Kougaiji as 'my little rabbit' quite telling, indeed...

How ya liking the music? I wasn't able to put everything on those discs, but i can send you stuff to fill in the holes in that collection by gmai and whatnot. ^_^

Nice little drabble there though. *grins*

[identity profile] tj-dragonblade.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm liking it quite well, thank you! ^_^ Honestly, I was thrilled with the prospect of one CD; and then you sent two! And now you offer still more...

I feel the distinct need to hug you. ^_^

So far I'm like...halfway through the first disk. My mp3 player won't hold anymore. ^_^; Some wonderful stuff, though. And I'm strangely addicted to the drama tracks. Even though I haven't any real clue what's being said for the most part. It's a delightful challenge to listen repeatedly in the interest of trying to figure it out. And I'm getting much better at picking up tones and inflections and all those little distinct vocal traits that make the characters. Y'know? And hey, I'm even picking out the odd phrase or two here and there. Mostly a lot of 'desu ne' and 'kudasai'. And other phrases that I hear repeated but probably couldn't spell with any accuracy and I don't quite know what they mean regardless. Whatever the case. It's wonderful!

... (blinks)

How did a quick little reply turn into so much babbling?

[identity profile] aliaswestgate.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
You're very welcome. ^_^ It turned into two because i couldn't jam in all the jrock and anime related songs i wanted into that one CD.

Shameless music collector that i am, i still have about 3 gigs worth that i'd share completely if i had the ability. *laughs* And yes, i adore the drama tracks too. I can't understand all of them either, but i get enough of it to get an idea of what's going on. You'll understand the tone more, teh more you listen to japanese spoken. I still can't make sense of the various dialects the 4 of them use on their own. I think a formal class or three in japanese will solve that. For now..all i can do is use these audio sensitive ears to pick it out. Which STILL isn't enough. Just guesswork and help from Sycho-chan. ^_^

Either way, the tunes are a smattering of more notable themes from shows i've liked. The Jrock is a sampling, but not ALL of what i have. I can't remember if i gave you some Dir En Grey or not. Which would be right up your alley, with your liking of industrial/gothy type rock. I'll send you more later, after my move this month. Good things must be shared, ne?

Dir En Grey or not. Which would be right up your alley, with your liking of industrial/gothy type rock

...You know just how to pique my interest, don't you. (makes note to browse CDs for Dir En Grey)

I wish you an easy move. Which...alright, such a thing is not bloody likely, unfortunately, given the nature of moving in general. I don't envy you that. May it flow smoothly and be relatively painless; and may your new neighbors be of a more considerate breed than your current ones...

[identity profile] deathlike.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh there are plenty of metaphors and symbolisms to play with (chuckles madly), but you have to find those meanings. The sources are avaliable as I said before if you wish to look them up (more fun that way doing your own researches), or you'd wish I spill more beans on the table?

[identity profile] tj-dragonblade.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, by all means, if you have more beans to spill, I am more than ready to catch them. Even if I *did* have time to devote to research, other people's thoughts on such matters are always interesting...

[identity profile] deathlike.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
You haven't catch them all yet (you have some pokeballs around?) You got most of them, but there is at least ten or more symbolisms, metaphors and meanings to life contained in this one series alone. I don't think my project is enough for the website to even handle. There is more to just the rabbit and crow theory but from what you have read and caught, what else do you think makes up human survival? For say when you go camping, what is the important thing you need in order to cook your meals and keep warm during the night?

[identity profile] tj-dragonblade.livejournal.com 2005-01-13 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
...That would be fire. Or heat, more generically... (tucks the notion away for later analysis and beans you with AJ's Pikachu plushie for the pokeball comment)

And I know you posted up more on numerology and such that I need to go absorb...

[identity profile] deathlike.livejournal.com 2005-01-13 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Fire... I don't think they had heaters during those day (laughs). (Gets hit by AJ's Pikachu plushie)

Cripes! Forgot something. Nii does have custody of the Muten Sutra as far as we still know. Look in my icon, on his shoulder. This Ukoku pic proves that he was bequeathed the sutra with the title, he just didn't get the true sign--which is the chakra tattoo.

Koumyou sanzo had custody of the Seiten and Maten sutras. He protected Sanzo and the Maten when he gave his life, 11 yrs back. The Seiten is in Houtou castle now, as part of the project. It's not really known yet on weather Gyokumen Koushou knows that Nii does have the Muten or not. As far as i can tell, he has it hidden and has told no one about it. It's as well hidden as his old self as Ukoku.

argh..*rummages around photoshop*

Here's a link to a better pic to show you. Ukoku Sanzo and Koumyou Sanzo. *grins and drools*

...well I'll be...

...Damn. There goes *my* theory, then...

So why *did* Koumyou have 2? Was that ever explored, yet?

[identity profile] aliaswestgate.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, not yet. Probably any number of theories on why, but i've yet to hear any of them.

[identity profile] deathlike.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
Read below (laughs)

[identity profile] deathlike.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
He had two because he is one those geniuses (as koumyou said: there's always one of those). A moron but a genius; all your answers are in book three and end of book four of reload.

[identity profile] tj-dragonblade.livejournal.com 2005-01-13 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
>_<

Note to self: Make time to read Reload 4, asap. Also to finish at least eps 15 and 16 of Reload anime. And to dL the last four eps, while I'm making a list. And pick up Requiem next month when the paycheck will hopefully allow it...

(headdesks)

Damn the crowdings of life, interfering with my recreational pursuits this way...

[identity profile] deathlike.livejournal.com 2005-01-13 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Reload has 25 episodes just to let you know.

[identity profile] entitys.livejournal.com 2005-01-14 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
y'know... somehow i'm getting the distinct impression that i should be enticing you with a Nii/Kou dj instead of Ten/Ken... just a thought.

[identity profile] tj-dragonblade.livejournal.com 2005-01-16 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
(blinks innocently)

Now whatever might give you *that* idea, hmm?

^_^

In all honesty...either pairing would be equally effective.

Damn my writer's block! I mean...I know where I want to take CD. I still have it mapped out in my brain. But...I can't seem to get anywhere with it! And it's driving me nuts. -_-;

Bet he has rabbits on his pants.

XD
