Things that make me sad:
- Cold dry winter weather. Negative double-digits fahrenheit =/= good times. T_T Agh, my skin.
- The fact that Axl is still calling his new band Guns N Roses. I mean, I suppose he has every right, but GNR is sort of...legendary? And this new lineup is a whole new entity, a new sound, and--whether good or bad--should be judged on its own merit rather than in comparison to what GNR used to be. They'd likely get a better reception and more of a chance under a different name, instead of snubbing and angry backlash from the longtime GNR fans and critics. Etcetera.
- I was google-searching images for Wufei and Duo to see if there's anything new out there since I was actively in the fandom. Ended up on this site, and was laughing my ass off at the character descriptions until I got to Wufei's. Then? Then, I cried. And remembered this rant from 2004. And re-read it. And felt a little better, and went back and laughed at the rest of the peripheral character blurbs. *grumbles* Not a f*cking misogynist, goddammit.
On the other end of the spectrum. There's this meme going around where you're meant to post something that makes you happy each day for 8 days, or somesuch. This is not that meme. But it's not entirely unlike it either.
Random little things that have made me happy in the last month or so:
- Happening to visit Bosco's the day they got in a shipment of new plushies, and snagging a Shikamaru and a Neji fresh from the pile. Score!
- Anniversary present of sexyboots:
(Yes, that's a skull zipper-pull. Ahaha.)
- Acing both my midterms with 100%. \m/ Especially the one I dragged myself across town to take while stricken with the Plague and at Death's door.
- The kappa story in Pet Shop: Tokyo. I *snrk*ed my way through the whole chapter with a big grin on my face, but it was D's reaction to the term 'kappa roll' in the sushi shop that really set me off. ^_^ (PSoH: Tokyo, vol 2, 2nd chapter. HEE).
- Dusting off my early 80's Depeche Mode collection (it's been about ten years since I really listened to the early stuff) and discovering that I can still sing along with most of the songs if I don't stop to think about it.
- Finding Maldoror's GW fic after having fallen in love with her Naruto fic. It's such a nostalgia trip. Even if I haven't finished them all. ^_^ For those of you who know me from back in the day, yes this means I'm reading 1x2 fics, omg. O_o Tell Satan to fire up the zamboni, 'cause odds are he's gonna need it.
- My Gmail ninjas. ♥
- Tuesday before xmas, at work, we hooked up a projector to an empty workstation, hit netflix, and watched Back to the Future movies all day on the wall. XD Awesome.
- Snow dump that same day = good Jeep 'surfing' in the parking lot after work.
- This game. It's simple and adorable and makes my inner Avatar fan quite happy. Fear my mad earth/air/blood/metal/waterbending skillz, yo. XD
- The price of gas. Even though these same prices last year made me quite other-than-happy. Perspective is everything.
- Lee and Gaara. And finding good Naruto fic. And fandomness in general, GW and Saiyuki and the handful of others where I lurk.
