jibii, thank you for the heads-up on the Saiyuki-OVA-with-Ensui torrent. I found it, and dL'd. ^_^; And...aye. Oh, how very...uhm. Different. But. Drunken and hungover Jiipu! ^_^ The poor dear.
Now if only the second part surfaces somewhere soon...
Yeah, there was this screeching moment of OMG-WRONG-ness, especially with Goku. Gojyo I didn't really find all that bad; the voice is different yes but still very much on par with personality/attitude/etc for Gojyo, and not so vastly different in tone/sound from Hirata-san as to be horribly jarring. Sanzo...was lacking a certain Sanzo-liness, is the only way I can describe it. And Goku was...just wrong. ^_^; Jeep's voice wasn't what I'm used to either, of course, but ♥♥ for the fact that he gets to be called Jiipu! And that he's more than just...window dressing to the story. Ensui's electric-pink hair raises my eyebrows (and he just looks much better when Minekura draws him, overall), but at least Gojyo got red hair!
The coloring of the clothes made me twitch a little in its off-ness, too. But overall...it's just good for a laugh, all these differences. And exciting as a fan to have this piece of the Saiyuki history available. ^_^

The whole thing did feel rather rapish for the first five minutes and then I think my brain went numb.. XD
