...Oh my god. My husband? Is, like...amazing. Has huge reserves of something or other. It's not patience, but it's...something. Some pair of old guys spreading the 'word of god' came to the door. He's been standing there amiably debating his atheism vs. their religion for like, half an hour. Civil, polite, assertive, firm, and bluntly honest. I can tell he's having...fun, giving them a reaction they don't likely expect.

Me, I'd have slammed the door in their faces before they could get past 'sin', 'smitten' and 'judgment day'. But then, having grown up under a christian religion, I tend to have more violent issues with people telling me I'm going to hell because I don't follow their lifestyle choice.

Don't get me wrong, he and I think the same way, but he's able to be far more civil about it. And have more fun fucking with preachy missionarying types. Though he'll have plenty less amiable to say once he's sent them on their way, I'm sure.

Stepping away from the keyboard - I feel a rant coming on.

I'm glad you've got him! I have to do that myself to fundies but i tend to take the more dry humor towards many of them. I got that from both my parents. Then there's the more or less 'shoo go away i'm busy' once i'm done the original conversation. Half hour? no way, i debated my share of these idiots a long time ago.

Glad to see you're still around here too though. I'm lurking, but deciding what to post. *grin*

Both side can never come to agreement in prove of "word of god" or "prove of there is a god" step a foot into Asia, you have to try to accept someone without discriminating them because of their Islamic, Christianity, Catholic, Buddhism, Confucianism... etc background and believes. Just something I learned about 8-9 months ago and thank goodness I came from an open society, even itself is learning to adapt to these changes in a sophisticated society.

I don't quite understand how this door-to-door word of God thing works. But I don't even know how door-to-door salesmen manage to sale any vacuum cleaners. Does someone actually go "Oh, now that you mention it, I should throw away my perfectly good vacuum cleaner now and buy this one from you!" or "Well I don't have any carpets actually, I mop and polish my floors, but hey you've convinced me, I'll get the place wall-to-wall carpeted tomorrow!" or "Yes I am between vacuum cleaners right now! And instead of getting a major brand one from a respectable store down the road where my whole family shopped for generations, I'll get this funky thing from you, random dude!" It's a mystery really. I just tell these people: "No thank you, we're okay for religion." For some reason it visibly confuses them.

roflmao

That sounds like something that would be good to do on purpose too! Maybe there is a market for self-igniting door mats?

My husband likes to debate with the 'door knockers' - but usually only the young pretty ones! I just go and hide once he starts.

I will take a cue from your husband. That's pretty fantastic.

Yeah, 'm still around. And glad I've got him too. ^_^

Yeah, that's the thing - no one can prove anything, yet everyone is adamant that they're right and everyone else is wrong. -_-x

XD You make a very good point.

Poetic justice at its finest. XD

Heh. I tend to get pestered a lot, since my mom's dad saw fit to forward my church records without my permission when I moved all the way up the continent. They keep trying to get me to come be active in the local branch, and I'm just utterly fed up with the pestering. Y'know? I'm not a confrontational person or naturally inclined to be rude, but this is an issue that tends to push me to it really fast. Which is why I'm doubly glad I can let him handle door knockers. ^_^

Isn't it? Saves me a lot of needless anger. ^_^
