The bird just broke my heart the first time I saw that sequence in the anime, and all over again when it showed up in the manga. A loneliness that great, especially in someone so open-hearted as Goku, is bound to come back to haunt him somewhere along the way. And I just can't seem (nor do I want) to turn away from the notion that Hakuryuu sees himself as...as...well, that he probably views his passengers as children of a sort in his care. All of them, y'know? 'Lovely Babies' kind of cemented that for me. This was a quick, spontaneous sort of bunny to play with the idea a little, and just to do something different.

Although I'm now left with the thought: If Hakkai's the mother-hen of the group, I guess that makes Hakuryuu the daddy...?
